Sunday August 10, Day 2: Edinburgh

  • Explore Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, and Holyrood Palace.

  • Walking tour of Edinburgh.

  • Stroll through Princes Street Gardens.

  • Overnight in Edinburgh.


Monday August 11, Day 3: Explore Edinburgh

  • Edinburgh botanical gardens.

  • Free time.

  • Military Tattoo evening show. (21:30)

  • Overnight in Edinburgh.


Tuesday August 12, Day 4: More of Edinburgh

  • Free time.
  • Evening pub crawl.
  • Overnight in Edinburgh.


Wednesday August 13, Day 5: Train to Inverness

  • Take the scenic Highland Main Line train to Inverness (3.5 hours).

  • Explore Inverness Castle and the River Ness.

  • Walking tour of Inverness.

  • Overnight in Inverness.


Thursday August 14, Day 6: Standing Stones and Culloden Battlefield

  • Rent a car.
  • Visit Clava Cairns, a prehistoric standing stone circle.
  • Explore Culloden Battlefield to learn about the Jacobite uprising.
  • Free time.
  • Overnight in Inverness.


Friday August 15, Day 7: Glen Affric Day Trip

  • Explore Glen Affric (1-hour drive).
  • Spend the day hiking and enjoying the serene landscapes of this ancient forest.
  • Return to Inverness for the night.
  • Overnight in Inverness.


Saturday August 16, Day 8: Inverness

  • Visit Inverness Botanical Gardens

  • Free time. Visit local shops or enjoy a relaxed evening.

  • Return rental car.

  • Overnight in Inverness.


Sunday August 17, Day 9: Train to Fort William via the West Highland Line

  • Take the beautiful train journey from Inverness to Fort William (3.5 hours).

  • Explore Fort William and enjoy views of Ben Nevis.

  • Overnight in Fort William.


Monday August 18, Day 10: Jacobite Steam Train and Glenfinnan

  • Take the iconic Jacobite Steam Train from Fort William to Mallaig and back. (12:50)

  • Stop at the Glenfinnan Viaduct and Monument.

  • Return to Fort William for the evening.

  • Overnight in Fort William.


Tuesday August 19, Day 11: Train to Glasgow via Loch Lomond

  • Morning train to Glasgow, with a stop at Crianlarich to explore Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.

  • Spend the evening enjoying Glasgow’s live music or food scene.

  • Overnight in Glasgow.


Wednesday August 20, Day 12: Explore Glasgow

  • Visit Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, The Hunterian, or the Burrell Collection.

  • Walking tour of Glasgow.

  • Enjoy a riverside walk or explore the trendy Finnieston neighborhood.

  • Overnight in Glasgow.


Thursday August 21, Day 13: Depart for Reykjavik

  • Depending on your flight, have a leisurely breakfast or visit a final site.

  • Depart for Reykjavik in the afternoon.

  • Settle in to accommodation.

  • Overnight in Reykjavik.


Friday August 22, Day 14: 

  • Walking tour of Reykjavik.

  • Overnight in Reykjavik.




Saturday August 23, Day 15: Morning in Reykjavik Depart for Portland

  • Morning in Reykjavik.

  • Depart for Portland in late afternoon.
